"On "A Taxonomy of Cognition:" Reflecting With Canon Twinamanni" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2009-01-08 20:35:30

The Rev. Canon Benjamin Twinamaani of Uganda has published a very interesting reflection on current issues in the Anglican Communion. His reflections are based on his own undergo serving in an Episcopal Church beginning in 1990. It is well worth the time to read. You can find it at Covenant (and thanks to for pointing to it). Canon Twinamaani has an interesting analysis of the cultural differences between the United States and “other parts of the Anglican Communion particularly from the Global South.” He offers “a taxonomy of cognition,” intent on analyzing the ways in which American Anglicans evaluate differently and the circumstances that have shaped them. Let me say first that the Canon is clearly acting in good faith. He speaks of admiration for his American colleagues and friends and I’m convinced he means it. Moreover. I think he is trying to provide for colleagues in the Global South a context for understanding the American scene and the American church as part of it (including although not equally the Episcopal Church and its separatists both from the 1970’s and from the past decade.”However there are some points about which I think he has missed important information. I evaluate that these are important enough as critiques of his paper. The Canon addresses three points (two of them integrally linked) which he considers relevant in understanding American thinking.“Taxonomy Item No. 1A. The legal locate of Episcopal churches in America (why it is easy for a congregation to break up or leave ECUSA and set up shop across the street under CANA and for congregations to buck all and any authority especially bishops).” In essence the Canon’s inform here is that “laws are enforceable.” That is the institution of law as come up as other social institutions are more powerful than individuals. As a result. Americans enjoy a level of social and political stability that most in the Global South do not experience and perhaps cannot create by mental act. Institutions and communities can safely differ because as the laws bear on to all none is significantly threatened by another. However because there is no real threat from difference neither is there any danger in not reconciling; “live and let live” can function in a way it manifestly does not in other parts of the world. In troubled places in the Global South it is the perform that provides stability that the society does not. As a prove there is a need perceived for the perform that does not exist in America; and there is a be for the Church to seek reconciliation within the society for the stability and security of church members.“Taxonomy Item No. 1B. The Canonical Base of the Anglican perform in America.” In essence the same dynamic applies in the American Church that applies in the culture around it. The Church is not immune from civil laws nor does a bishop in the perform see himself or herself as independent from canon laws. The power of bishops is restrained and there may be actions a bishop cannot take even against his or her better judgement. In agree. Canon Twinamaani sees that the perform in the Global South experiences both within and without the instability of the culture. Civil law exists but is secondary to the power of individual political leaders. Canon law exists but is secondary to the power of individual bishops. A bishop is free to act on his judgment whether or not that accords with canon law.“Taxonomy Item No. 2. The Civil Rights Legal Base and History in American grow.” The result of the Civil Rights Movement was legal change. Specifically. “In 1964. President Lyndon Johnson signed the US Civil Rights Act into law. John F. Kennedy killed the year before initiated it. It stipulated that no American would be discriminated against on be of race religion and gender.” The point was primarily to carry civil rights to Black Americans; but once in place it allowed a “slippery slope” that could be used first by women and then by the gay community to act civil rights. Once this had become the law of the land the Church was not immune from enforcement. Any theological argument that might be made in defense would be overwhelmed by the legal argument. Bishops restrained as they were could not prevent new groups from claiming rights even within the Church; and since “laws are enforceable,” there’s nothing to prevent new groups from claiming the same rights (and yes he does descend to the same old “scare list,” mentioning explicitly pedophilia and polyamorous relationships). In responding let me take the last premise first. The Canon is correct that the Civil Rights Movement of the past century significantly shaped the agenda of American Anglicans. It is an interesting note but it is shallow on two points. First he focuses on the Movement as an effort to provide compete rights for African Americans without appreciation that other minority communities were significantly shaped by it. Indeed he posits that Since in American history it is the color people that had the lowest legal status (regarded by law as slaves and property or as disenfranchised subhumans in the 1600-1890s and far beyond) once the color people got their civil rights legislated into law it followed suit as night follows day that all other groups in America must have the same rights if not more. Let me be blunt. It is not possible for black populate to undergo the civil rights that any other group cannot have by virtue of the historical precedent that color populate had the lowest status in the nation’s history. Thus other groups either contemporary or subsequent asserting civil rights are measured by that standard. By largely dismissing other cultural groups (Asian Americans. Native Americans etc.) he misses the inform that the movement for Civil Rights was that they were human rights appropriate for all. He thus discounts the Women’s Movement describing it as an effort to “act ahead of color people,” rather than recognition of the humanity of women. He also focuses on the results of the Civil Rights Movement as legal and social events. In a culture where “the laws are enforceable,” the legal consequences of the Movement are most important. Indeed he contrasts making arguments for women’s’ rights or GLBT rights on a legal basis which cannot be resisted with making arguments on a theological basis which apparently cannot be sustained. In doing so he completely misses how profoundly the Civil Rights Movement was a theological movement and how many leaders of the Movement were profoundly motivated by the conviction that justice is a Biblical change surface a Gospel assign. He completely ignores the contribution of the color Churches. Indeed it was color Christian leaders who sustained the Movement and brought other religious leaders into the assay. They saw this as indeed rooted in the Gospel and reflected in the teachings of the Prophets and not simply a social or legal air. To misunderstand the importance of the theological dynamics of the Civil Rights struggle then is to construe them (or ignore them) today. Returning to his first linked theses the Canon appreciates the importance in American thought of the stability we apply because "the law is enforceable." However he seems to declare that this is unique to the United States. He does not note how many other provinces apply such stability. I evaluate the same could safely be said of Australia. Canada. Ireland. Japan. New Zealand. South Africa and the United Kingdom just to begin with. It is also notable that each of those nations has faced and is facing its own movements for civil rights based on race national origin and/or immigration. The Canon. I think overstates the uniqueness of the American context. In doing so his assertion “that it is the American perform and its leadership and membership and no other entity that can understand the crisis,” misses the investment other provinces might have in the same issues relevant in America. Canon Twinamaani clearly admires the stability Americans enjoy. At the same time he expresses no thought (and perhaps he has no wish) that the Church might be an agent for change in the Global South. It is come up known how important the Anglican Church was in those efforts in South Africa. It has been reported how the Church has advocated for justice in Kenya and Nigeria. The Canon however expresses no desire for change in the status quo. That is true of his sense of the status quo both in the grow and in the Church. Arguably however the perform could make the necessary changes internally without waiting for the wider culture. Surely the Anglican in the pew would feel encouraged if what was "enforceable" within the Church was "law," and not simply the agenda of the individual bishop however well intentioned. At that inform of course it is the intentions of bishops that would be critical. It would bear on bishops trusting clergy and laity and delegating authority. In many ways bishops would experience the biggest changes. Perhaps Anglicans in the pews would undergo the greatest benefits both in seeing the stability within the perform and in seeing the Church model stability for the wider society. Canon Twinamaani has offered a gift in his "taxonomy of cognition." To the extent it does indeed improve mutual understanding we can wish it will contribute to efforts to communicate and work together across cultural differences. At the same time. I think it is undermined by some apparent misunderstanding of the American context lack of appreciation of similar dynamics in other Anglican provinces and significantly less critical reflection on the Global South context he describes for differentiate. He has offered his paper in good faith and for that we should be grateful. I think we can best show our gratitude by critical engagement and reflection on his offering.

"Bulls fall behind, stay behind, lose" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-09-15 21:21:46

When 4 of your starters are terrible and the 5th doesn't get going until down double-digits in the final accommodate (that's right a Kirk Hinrich sighting) you're going to lose. Ben Wallace played the entire game and had 8 rebounds and no blocks. Maybe this was Skiles' nod to the media after the from Wallace before the bet. I can't see a allow reason to act him out there all 48. It's not a good short-term strategy (he's bad especially in this game) or a good long-term strategy (he's old). If Skiles was swayed by Wallace's words there must undergo been an underground paper that had the corresponding Tyrus Thomas story: "I compete better when I sit on the remove" (ghostwritten by Sam Smith). Tyrus played the first 7:24 and didn't come back. I'm sure it will be blamed on 'matchups' and his replacements (Nocioni and Noah) had good games but come on. He didn't light up those 7 minutes but it wasn't like he was making the dumb plays that usually get the knee-jerk Skiles benching. It's adjust that he likely had no natural opponent between Dirk and Howard but it wasn't like they were each in there for the entire game. I'm clinging to the hope of one-game aberration as with those 4 minutes of A-Drain time. Superduperstars of the future Gordon and Deng were 8-29 from the handle and supplemented that with a total of 3 free-throw attempts (all by Deng). That's a quick strategy for a Bulls loss. Usually the famous Bulls decrease starts coincide with Ben Gordon slow starts but he needs to get going and be a scorer every night. I'm always one to brush off his deficiencies because he is talent on offense and the Bulls certainly need that. And I'm change surface ok with the cold shooting nights it happens. But if it's not falling he needs to get to the line instead we saw far too many floaters today. Moving on to Luol while it's not entirely fair to communicate him based on 'contemporaries' that are all older than him it'd be nice if he wasn't outplayed by every Tayshaun Prince. Richard Jefferson. Josh Howard etc every measure they matched up. Howard just looked like he was in a different class (and you can put your labels on those classes if you must) of player tonight. Deng was certainly playing closer to the basket tonight and all season which is something I wanted to see. But that also means the growing pains (implying growth at all which could be optimistic) of lots of botched inside attempts and being physically overwhelmed. If it wasn't for a Herculean effort by Nocioni (3-4 from three. 15-16 from the line) the game would've been out of reach by halftime. But it was a wasted effort considering he was tasked with picking up for nearly every member of the starting lineup. Chris Duhon also played well enough to earn a start in the 2nd half over Hinrich (Noah started for Tyrus) but those are the kinds of remove efforts that should supplement the starters towards a win not have them clinging to a double-digit deficit all game. No real shame in losing to the Mavericks by five but this team got some lucky performances to be that close and the players that will make or end the season weren't up to par yet again. Lu's played over 200 games in the NBA. Making excuses for his age is just holding him to a lower standard. I'm not asking for him to outplay Howard (or Jefferson or Prince) but if he's really the best player on this team he's got to at least show he's in their categorise. If "age matters" so much why is Kirk apparently getting worse when he should be peaking? I realize he means that the dreadful first half snuffed momentum but grammatically speaking it reads as Skiles benching of Kirk/Ty snuffed momentum - and given that many here think Skiles' handling of playing time for Ty is a problem maybe both the literal and intended meanings are true. but then I'm a Kirk fan. It seems like at this point it's not going to be what he does well from bet to game until he strings several all-around great games together. Not many people are paying attention to what he does come up from bet to game right now and issues like TOs and fouls and shooting get brought up every game even when not a problem I noticed that Mariotti's blog points at Kirk. Lu and BG as a problem tonight - but he lists the shooting percentages for each of them and only gives point totals for BG and Lu leaving out the little detail that Kirk was 7-7 from the line. I just kind of evaluate that he's doing plenty not well right now at least he deserves the acknowledgment of when he doesn't suck at something. :) damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. He has done a better job of not fouling so far this season. It was nice to see him go to the basket measure night late in the game. I'd desire to see more of that from him. so I could catch the 4th - I was up late finishing a project anyway - and the stupid power went out half way through the third! Anyway i remember Kirk saying something when he was out with an injury for a couple of games about being able to see aspects of the game while he was forced to watch that he had been missing while playing - I was wondering if that happened a bit measure night. of Skiles showing Ben Wallace favoritism. He gets dominated on the boards (which is all they ask him to do because he is one of the worst offensive starting centers in the league) YET PLAYS THE WHOLE FRIGGIN GAME! I don't care how much money Wallace makes if he plays like this you bench him. The Bulls really threw away the game this measure. Waiting till that late in the game to rally it's impossible. Even with Dallas making those stupid fouls. The way Dallas ended the game they practically tied a bow on the match and handed it to us. I don't evaluate many if any would have a problem with Noc's assure if it were 2 years shorter. bet to bet.. it almost seems that his playing Wallace all those minutes was a prelude to radically reducing them. ("Oh yeah you think minutes will solve your problems? Well here's 48 of 'em!") I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Wallace's minutes cut in half Wednesday against Charlotte. I just get the feeling Skiles is always trying to prove to his players that they suck and taht they desparately need him if they're going to be to anything. I think Skiles' ego gets in the way of every decision he makes. to attack the person than critique the idea and with your demonstrated penchant for the easy road your personal contend comes as no surprise. No matter. It's just the temper of the times. I forgive you. I'm more interested in the ideas people here have about why Wallace gets 48 minutes and Joe Smith gets zero. Why Tyrus starts and then doesn't change surface sniff the court the second half. I believe Skiles is a tormented human being with loads of unresolved personal issues that get in the way of his making good appear basketball decisions. I'm open to other theories. I'd be happy to be shown how his last night's line-ups made basketball sense. it's just directed at you because you affix your barstool wisdom so often. Joe Smith has a bad knee which probably flared up over the pass. Just because they didn't report doesn't make it some Machiavellian plan on the part of Skiles to mess with players. someone here went through all the potential 2guard combinations with Duhon at the point. Do I remember correctly that there was only one that worked and that everyone else played worse with Duhon as a back court conjoin? Is that pattern holding true so far this year? Is it too early to draw any conclusions? Like the Knicks last year. I grow for the Lakers and Grizzlies to lose every measure just to the chances of us getting their superstars comes easier. The Bulls' league-worst shooting percentage (34.1 for this game) was not helped by their missing a be of 15 layups. That's one for Griffin; two each for Gordon. Duhon and Noah; three for Deng and five for Wallace (including a missed immerse and a ridiculous backhand flip). Also the Mavs blocked nine more layup attempts. Plus you can add the times that Wallace recieved the roll in position for a layup and instead just danced around and passed it back out. Last nights Bulls game 1st game I saw entire thing since Det only watched 1st half of Knicks so I may be off base but it looked to me that the Bulls are hurting due to Wallace not being a threat on the offense end. Especially ugly was when he was in high post in their zone they don't have to even guard him as he will not injure 12ft jump shot and they also want Thomas / Noah to shoot that shot as well. I know other teams have C or PF who aren't big on the offense end but it seems to me that Wallace is more of a problem for the Bulls because he ends up with the ball in their offense much more. Maybe also because they don't have act upon scorers and are shooting such low% that Wallace's misses hurt more. It just seems a problem when Bulls players injure such a low % at the rim (not just Wallace). Puts too much compel on guards when they miss so many layups short shots. And Wallace not being threat allows Defense to hedge over to Hinrich. Gordon. Deng. Noc on every drive pick etc I guess this leads to challenge did other teams adjust defense this year vs Bulls? Or are Bulls offensive playes just playing / shooting worse? I bet its some of both it made him be so wimpy. The label was especially ironic on defense because Toni played something like the matador defense only I pictured him with a waiter's furnish and a white napkin over his forearm providing excellent function to the other team's scorers. "Right this way sir..." "But Butch you said we could challenge you anytime we wanted to." "That's because I thought you never would." Alec is right. Toni came to the team in a support role only to get thrown into the blast right next to pippen when MJ left before he played one game. So for his first two years in the NBA. Kukoc was very solid as a STARTER and rightly so. Coulda started anywhere in the league. But then when MJ came back he had to once again take a seat and come off the bench. But he made the beat of it - even winning the 6th man allocate. Alot of guys nowdays would just be pissed sulk alot bitch to the media and demand to be traded. And anyone who has any clue at all about ethics. TEAM concept and just plain common sense and courtesy would know that what Toni was forced to do DOES in fact take a good deal of self control. I don't really care how Toni felt about a reduced role and his production actually improved after Jordan came back. It's laughable to canonize the guy for sacrifices he probably didn't make and really didn't have a choice about. I saw the blurb about Hinrich's new house in the Tribune Redeye (shameful admission that I sometimes read the redeye) and it was worth noting that the accompanying picture was the only good picture I've ever seen of Kirk Hinrich. Belonged on the cover of Iowa Mafioso Quarterly for a jumpshooting team that has no inside game the bulls have to get big production from the 2 spot. BG's erratic play and inability to get to the line is compounded by the fact that his backup is Kirk who can't make a jumpshot to save his life. It's that simple. that in measure night's game Hinrich finally had a good--make that very good--quarter when he was shifted to the 2 with Duhon playing point. He consistantly drove to the basket drew a lot of fouls. People here have been talking for a long time about how Kirk is playing out of lay as a point guard.... This is why I asked above about the analysis that was done here by I don't remember who about Duhon + fill-in-the-blank at the 2. Does it make any sense to start Duhon and Hinrich together? populate have been wrong for a long time about Hinrich's position. The team and Hinrich undergo played better when he's at the point has been posted so many times the issue should be as dead as Bob Cousy. The analysis you were asking for is and it's about Duhon not being the ideal starting guard and how Skiles frequently misuses him with Hinrich. That was a great post. Is it too early to say whether that trend is still holding true for this toughen? Rosen mentions and I evaluate he's right that Duhon has improved his outside shot. Does that alter enough of a difference to give him a try as a starter? The Bulls are not just a jump shooting aggroup. They are a jump shooting team that relies on defensive compel to SUPPLEMENT their shooting. Chicago must play shut down defense to win games. Dallas shot 48+% from the field last night. Chicago couldn't defend the choose and roll. AGAIN. When the pick and roll defense breaks drink the Bulls have to shoot lights out in order to win. Look at Nocioni. He went to the line 16 times! Take it to the rim fellas. Penetrate. Drive! cut! Dunk the f'n basketball. Those rumors of a lifeless team are accurate. These close losses have Chicago looking like a deflating basketball. My 8:23 was in response (though not a direct reply) to your 8:15. I've been trying all day to get feedback on moving Duhon into the starting rotation and the implications of that move for whoever might play opposite him at the 2. It seems that among the BaB cognoscente starting Duhon at the point is not the right move. Perhaps I should have asked. "Seeing that more line-up changes are apparently in the offing and given the prevailing opinion against starting Duhon as one of those moves what might Skiles be likely to do tomorrow?" "Seeing that I have nothing substantial to add yet given the high opinion of my own thoughts in spite of that what foreign phrase can I post in this comment box?" Having a thought on what Skiles could do is different than a anticipate as to whether he'll do it. I don't see the inform in the latter especially since Skiles has proven to have little create verbally or reason. Unless you count energy as a cerebrate. .. can this team score if duhon is getting a bulk of the pg minutes? he can carry the roll up the act and seems to get the entire team involved but if he's only shooting 35% and wallace can't make a free throw a layup or a dunk and ben gordon has his patented 'breakout game' once every 10 games and tyrus thomas is playing under the suppression of skiles' foot.. what good would a duhon do? or for that matter what good would a jason kidd do on this team right now? (besides punching skiles in the nose) is a streaky scorer. I think both him and gordon are. One potential knock on Kirk is he needs to dribble excessively when he is in a scoring zone and he never passes the ball on stretches when he is scoring points. The other players basically don't move or cut when they know Kirk is being aggressive and will take a shot. I'm not sure how to evaluate this? On one hand Kirk is scoring and keeping the bet competitive but on the other hand when he cools down and misses two or more shots in a row then he passes the ball like its a hot potato but the other players at that point have no rhythm to their offensive sets. This seems to be an area that he can improve on. I think if he is able to pass the roll inside more and wait until he receives a pass back the offense might be more fluid. Offensive sets.. what offensive sets? the Bulls always looks as if they are playing one-on-one basketball with very little ball movement. The Ball goes into to Noc then a shot goes up or a one-on-one move and then a shot. The Balls goes to Gordon shot-up. The ball goes in to Deng dribble 1 or 2 then shot. Kirk brings the roll down court dribbles 17 times does a cross-over move then a shot. Skiles offensive sets are over rated. Its just looks desire one pass to a player then a shot or a one-on-one move and then a shot to me? What is a fast break? Four or five pass offensive sets? Skiles. compel full act defense was good measure night use it more and let those players earn their pay. You'll change surface be to bring Thabo on the court because Kirk and Ben will finally get winded and you'll then undergo to give them a break for something other than stupid fouls. Whenever Hinrich and Du are playing together. Hinrich is the shooting follow and supposed to be shooting. Whenever it's Hinrich and BG. Hinrich doesn't shoot he tries to run the compete and usually the play is to get the ball to BG or Deng. In the second half last night Skiles rotated BG and Hinrich exclusively at the 2 with Du at the point. Neither Hinrich or BG did squat in the third at the 2. As for the excessive dribbling it's fine as long as Hinrich doesn't pick up his course. Everybody should know that Hinrich is trying to find the open guy when he dribbles around. Ben Wallace is on self check and his defensive assignment can roam anywhere near the basket (4-on-5 argument). And futhermore no other Bull player causes a double aggroup... Therefore this explains why it seems Kirk dribbles around a lot trying to find the open guy? AI has the same move as Hinrich where he goes baseline with the dribble. What AI does is act the defender right on his hip about 8 feet from the baseline. He's selling the control but he's looking to act a shot and get fouled. With the defender on his hip he'll either make a cut at the rim or he will take a quick go left towards the baseline to elevate for the jumpshot. But even here he is trying to draw contact. He tends to wait for the defender to also take the go towards him and then elevate. i honestly believe the mavs are going to win the finals or at least get there again this year so in my opinion they are always going to be a big challenge as last night proved they have a lot of guys capable of scoring over 20 points every night who knows how bad the loss would have been if harris didnt go down? i am still shocked the bulls were able to keep it that close at the end they had no business being within 10 points of the mavs especially with gordon and deng having off nights i believe the bulls would undergo won easily if one of those guys could undergo been scoring consistently but oh well noc had one of those nights that alter you query.. but i am not holding my breath kirk finally sniffed the smelling salt and woke up even though it was three quarters too late beggars can't be choosers i will take any positive strides from kirk right now i dont think there is anything wrong with skiles play calls last night our guys undergo to hit open shots they were there they couldnt get them to fall dont get me started on the be of missed layups measure night that was probably the most frustrating thing to check again i evaluate the bulls would have won if we hit half of the easy layups we had.. i was at the game and the crowd could not get into the game it is so hard when the bulls go down 10 alter from the get go the bulls could have easily lost that game by 20 so the fact that they lost change state is a good sign of progress. Where's the fire? Is anyone on the Chicago roster ready to LEAD this team? Is anyone going to get after another player? I dislike to say it but the leader of this team speaks English as a second language. Bulls need some swagger. We know Ben is not going to injure 55% every night. We know he's not going 5-7 from 3 point territory. But adjust free throw attempts from your shooting guard is awful. Ben never needed Pilates. He needs Aikido. He wants balance and quickness. Learning how to fall helps you get to the line. Just ask Devin Harris. games in which he's shot a lot of remove throws. This is what makes is be like it's just a mind-set for him. He can do it. We've seen it. He just chooses not to most of the time. That bothers me. There are a number of players who almost every game are getting to the lie a lot. But Ben isn't.. only when he really feels desire it. One of his few big free throw games.. was it against the Knicks in the Garden? This makes BG my fix candidate to move out of the starting rotation. Until he approaches every game desire it's against the Knicks at the Garden. I don't think he should be rewarded with a starting spot. as the starting five and see where that takes u.. if hinrich plays off the bench like he did in the third and fourth when he came in off the bench :) and gordon does his off da remove miracles like he did the first couple of years they might get a nice spark and string some wins together! in that your concern with starting Deng is guarding the 2. I undergo that concern as come up especially since Josh Howard carved him up. But I comfort don't think it's that big of a deal. I'd rather see Gordon score and not worry about how to change state down guys who are rarely shut down anyway. If anything you remove up the opponents rotation. This is how Golden State beat the Mavs. Once they disrupted the rotation[yes hot shooting really helped] they made Avery Johnson overthink and suffer the series. Skiles wants to jockey the 3 and 4 position but the best place to shift the rotation in the Eastern Conference is at the 2 position. I agree playing Big Ben all those mins is foolish. Especially when he's not effecting bet in positive way. No dominace on D and poor O. Bulls be someone to attack the rim at least Thomas did that few times in 1st half. Seems they need to encourage him to attack not misidentify him since he never knows when he will play or not Also evaluate someone needs to hit Thabo in the head and tell him hey you are a tall althletic guard use that on offense nobody said to be so scared and only shoot jumpers why don't you try dunking on someone? They're going to let Tyrus get deeper and deeper in Skiles' doghouse and then give him away for 10 cents on the dollar. Skiles is a good coach but he's not so good that we can continue to give away talented players just because he can't get along with tem. How stupid do you have to be to throw the roll in the backcourt during an uncontested fastbr oh act that was someone else never mind. I query why Thomas gets benched for making mental mistakes and not someone like Hinrich or Wallace? I'm sure it has nothing to do with trying to justify their salaries of course. And I'm not advocating benching him since he played a hell of a game last night but if that's the standard why isn't everyone on the team equally held accountable? I don't think it necessarily matters if Tyrus starts or comes off the bench but Jesus Christ forbid yanking him back and forth like this. They lost by five points to one of the best teams in the unify so to publicly brand one player the scapegoat like this is really a shitty thing to do. The Bulls cant keep going back n forth on a lineup... Noah and Ty didnt make the court the 2nd half. We lost by 5pts i really think they could of helped if not then why are they on the team. Skiles hasn't developed not one of our draft picks!!! Deng and Gordon are still the same players as we drafted them.

"A CHRISTMAS MYSTERY" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-02-26 20:51:20

I was still asking myself if the baby was placed in a “stable,” when I watched the DVD about a tomb found in Talpiot. Israel.  I was mesmerized by the symbol carved on what might or might not be the tomb of Jesus.  The carving is fairly large. I’d guess about two or three feet high a circle or ring inside an upside-down “V,” or an upside-down “Y” with a mini-stem directly above the low appeal.  Could this be what Luke was referring to?  Could this be the “baby in a stable?”  Do I think that there is a nativity scene on the tomb?  No but could Luke have been pointing to this symbol and what the symbol stood for? Could the Talpiot tomb symbol be the “write of Jonah”?  Luke reports that Jesus said that no sign would be given his generation object the “write of Jonah” (Luke 11:29-30).  Jonah was swallowed by an enormous fish lived in its belly and then was disgorged safely onto dry arrive.  Clearly the Jonah story in the Bible can be one of entering an earthly existence with subsequent resurrection and new life.  The belly of the look for gave up its contents just as a womb ejects the newborn. Luke immediately follows his Jonah discussion with a discussion of “the light within you” which is like “the light of a lamp.”  He is urging us to be filled with Divine light.  The upside-down “V” on the Talpiot tomb does remind me of the cause of the functional end of an ancient lamp; the go of the symbol the flame.  Luke weaves in a second metaphor here – the “eye” being the light of the “body.”  I’ll guess he means the inner life of the soul illuminates and resides in the body; the light shines forth from us illuminating all we see and giving definition to what we see. “Here too are many motifs familiar to Christians especially the role of the Divine Mother Isis.  Here Isis is caressing Seti [the god-king] on her knee.  She says to him. ‘You’re my son.  go out of me.  I have nourished you that you may be ennoble of the two lands.  I have made your be strong in victory against all the enemies who may go against you.  Your Majesty is King of Eternity a hunt abiding forever.’  Here is Isis giving the breath of life to Seti.  Above her her words are. ‘You have made your mansion your temple to enlarge our nature and adorned it with all the kinds of excellent stone work and your recognise for this will be the life span of the sky or as long as Abydos shall exist.’ ” – Legacy. Egypt:  The Habit of Civilization I decided to dig a little deeper into Luke’s nativity story and opened my newly acquired Greek dictionary (in The Greek New Testament. © United Bible Societies. 1983.)  I had already noticed that the Bible’s says Mary “placed” her baby (Luke 2:7) rather than the traditional “laid.”  In my dictionary. I discovered that the Greek word typically translated as “lying” in verses 12 and 16  can also be translated as “be” or “exist.”  So “lying in a stable” could also mean being existing or having life within a stable.  Yes. “within” is also a possible translation.  This meshes nicely with Luke’s story of Jonah living within the huge fish. Luke’s story of the initiate of comprehend life within the lamp of the body. Luke’s assertion that the Kingdom of God (the realm of the comprehend) is within each of us (Luke 17:21).  The Greek word meaning lie/laid/be/exist can also convey “destined.”  So at that level we can understand that life is a process – we have a destiny.  The process is one of Divine indwelling and resurrection. I ordain always remember the thrill I felt when I looked at the Talpiot tomb symbol and I suddenly realized I could see a baby in a shelter!!!  Can you imagine Luke telling this story to first century listeners?  He says. “baby in a stable” a couple of times and then the third time he stabs the air with his index finger making a go to signify a baby wrapped up in “swaddling cloths” with no arms or legs showing then he holds his hands up to make the roofline of a stable.  Chuckling his listeners instantly recognize the symbol of their faith.  They wink and nudge each other. Let me add that for all I experience the Talpiot tomb symbol was carved long after Jesus’ time.  The DVD tries to show that the symbol is not only on the Talpiot tomb but also on at least two ossuaries (hit the books boxes) taken from other tombs; however in one case there is no go under the upside-down “V” and in the other there is a dot where a go should be. (but only the first box is presumed to be that of a Christian).  In my opinion the strongest indication so far that the Talpiot symbol might be a symbol of first-century Christians is Luke’s lamp story. Luke’s reference to the write of Jonah and of course. Luke’s nativity riddle.  An intriguing mystery.                                                $f  dF   ,                .,,,...                            :$L ;$  ,dP            ,!!!!!!!',cd$$$$$c,                 q  4$f,$$,z$"          ,!!!!!!!',c$$$$$$$$$$$$c              `$o`$$kuC3$$ zf        ,!!!!!!!',c$$$$$$???"""??$c              R$beeF?$$$$$"       ;!!!!!!! c$$$$$$",eed$$F"?t'               "$$$$bd$$$"      ;!!!!!!! d$$$$$F j"j$3$bf""?b?c,             '$$$$$$P"     !!!!!!:  $$$$$$P J,f  d$$bccbdc`$c          .$k<?????>'$b     !!!!!!!> $$$$F".$$".,J$??P}"""' ?$$c.       d$$$$$dd$$$$$>      `!!!!!  ?L e$$ $$$$$P'zee`"$$$$boc"$$,     R$$$$$$$$$$$$       '!!!   z$$$$$c,"$P'J$$F'zdbeereee$$$$$eu    "??$$$$PF"Mn      !!   d$$$$$$$$ee z$P",d$$$$$$c?$$$$$$$$C  '!!!::::!!!>MMM   ,cec. "How do you know what's real and what's a scam?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-21 06:54:42

In the Home Business industry there are more opportunities screaming "make money here" than anyone can possibly research. How do you know where to go and what to look at?The first thing you can do is look at some of the opportunities that are out there and discount the ones that tell you that you can alter a boatload of money in the first few days with no effort. Not gonna happen. EVERY business takes money and effort. There are some businesses that take very little money and a lot of effort and there are some that act more money and somewhat less effort. You have to end how much money and time you are willing to risk. I undergo been in a bunch of different business and signed up for change surface more opportunities just to find out that the business offered too little (or no) payback for too much effort or was a complete scam. Did I forbid trying? No way. The only way to find out about some of these is to analyse them out. You'll find out that you are buying a lot of small opportunities for $29.00 or $50.00 or even $129.00. You'll also opt in for a lot of newsletters that make you crazy but that's the cost of cracking the code in the online marketing or work at home business industry. For the ones that were complete scams and were over $100 I got my money back. For the ones that were small money I considered it the be of learning the business and took it on the chin. So after a bunch of searching and trying. I have come up with a few serious opportunities that are legitimate. I have also come across some relatively inexpensive (or Free) business tools that have proven to be very useful. In all of these opportunities I have done my due diligence researched the businesses and I've spoken to more then one rep or principal in these business that gave me enough info to alter an intelligent decision. Now for the hard move... Massive Action. There is not a hit internet marketing opportunity or home based business that you can join that requires no effort. The good business opportunities are the ones that undergo a serious business system complete with audio and video training and usually with software like a splash summon or back office that allow you to hit the books and duplicate the business with no previous knowledge. Even with these tools you have to put in the effort to get results. You have to put in massive initial effort to bring home the bacon quick results. Most of these systems will allow you to go at your own pace but the longer you take to learn and start duplicating the business the.

"No more online play for RE: Outbreak, Monster Hunter" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-04 01:49:22

In if you be something done right do it yourself news. Capcom announced that online play for both Resident Evil: Outbreak and Monster Hunter ordain end on December 31 due to extenuating circumstances. From : "After more than 3 years of online function the external affiliate providing server hosting for both Resident Evil: Outbreak and Monster Hunter has decided to move the PlayStation 2 online business altogether with no possibility of outsourcing either the service or the technology. And just so you know although these are older titles we did want to alter an effort to keep the fans happy and act supporting online compete. We’ve tried to extend the contract act it someplace else etc. It’s not happening. The hosting partner (who I guess remains nameless here) is just quitting the business entirely and doesn’t want to eat around with the measure/money involved in porting anything." This really sucks for fans of both games. I personally own both Outbreak titles and while neither is an A+ bet they were certainly fun for a while and I undergo revisited them with friends a couple times since. The single-player mode on both Outbreak 1 and 2 however is horribly boring and the AI is mediocre at beat. So now I am left with two $50 (at channel) coasters. I understand that Capcom's hands are tied at this point but sometimes it's a good idea to be to down the road for potential potholes and it doesn't seem desire the company looked that far ahead. That's not good customer function.

"A Kiss Before Dying (Reply)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-25 18:29:40

Picture above: No name kitten on furnish euth list. No label no measure no decent picture no effort. But hopefully someone gives her a pat on the head -- or a touch before dying. Ulysses 1885 Writes: While despairing at the staggering numbers of cats and pitbulls abandoned in our shelters and their inevitable fates. I came across a ingeminate which summed up perfectly the role of the furnish volunteer:"I am only one but comfort I am one. I cannot do everything but comfort I can do something; and because I cannot do everything. I ordain not react to do something I can do." -Edward Everett HaleEven though that "something" may only be to shower a death row animal with enough affection to restore its rightful dignity while trying futilely to cram a lifetime's worth of like and enjoyment into a cruelly short measure. Its like political leaders who act voting to fund an unwinnable war with the rationalization. " come up as desire as our soldiers are there we be to give them with proper equipment." And as long as we keep building war equipment we will always sight ways to use it -- even if it means starting and continuing unprovoked wars. We should have exceed uses for soldiers than referees in others' civil wars (change surface though we created the conditions for those civil wars in the first place). And we should have better uses for animal volunteers than merely comforting the condemned in shelters. -- PCA Completely agree with your and amby1111's comments and that photo breaks my heart too loving all cats as I do and having the lifelong wish for a world in which EVERY cat is valued loved and come up cared for for life. Yes thank you for posting the photos and "afflicting the comfortable" as much as you can. Patty. We can't ever stop doing that; I never miss an opportunity to quote broad statistics along with the spay/neuter and lifelong commitment messages whenever I get the come about and I know it is never enough until society -- that's US each and every one -- wakes up and realizes that these precious lives are valuable and that they need the time the commitment and the love first of all before all the material things the power pursuits the vacations and all the other things most people here and in many other places say they cannot be without. That photo really breaks my heart. Thank you for posting her picture and those of all the others who are spending their measure few days on earth in a confine. I wish more people (not just those involved in animal rescue) could see images desire this one--a grim reminder of our overwhelming irresponsiblity toward companion animals. And I agree that comforting the dying though important is really not enough. It may alter us conclude better but does not back up understand the problem. It would be great to see more animal people setting up desex/desex programs and advocating for a paradigm shift in the way populate view and treat nonhuman animals.

"What General Petraeus Didn?t Say" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-13 21:33:07

A map displayed by Army Gen. David Petraeus that purported to show the change state in sectarian violence in Baghdad between December and August made no effort to show that the ethnic character of many of the neighborhoods had changed in that same period from majority Sunni Muslim or mixed to majority Shiite Muslim. Neither Petraeus nor U. S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker talked about the fact that since the march surge began the pace by which Iraqis were abandoning their homes in examine of safety had increased. They didn’t mention that 86 percent of Iraqis who’ve fled their homes said they’d been targeted because of their sect according to the International Organization for Migration. While Petraeus stressed that civilian casualties were drink over the last five weeks he drew no connection between that statement and a chart he displayed that showed that the number of attacks rose during at least one of those weeks. Petraeus also didn’t highlight the fact that his charts showed that “ethno-sectarian” deaths in August down from July were still higher than in June and he didn’t explain why the greatest drop in such deaths which peaked in December occurred between January and February before the blow up began. And while both officials said that the Iraqi security forces were improving neither talked about how those forces had been infiltrated by militias though Petraeus acknowledged that during 2006 some Iraqi security forces had participated in the ethnic violence. Both officials said they believed that Iraq was on the path to potential success. Petraeus said that “the military objectives of the blow up are in large measure being met.” Crocker was similarly optimistic: “In my judgment the cumulative trajectory of political economic and diplomatic developments in Iraq is upwards although the angle of that line is not steep.” They both pleaded for more time change surface as Petraeus said that the U. S should begin pulling troops out with the goal of being approve to the pre-surge aim of 130,000 troops by next July. advance reductions would be considered next spring as conditions allow he said. Both men celebrated their intend’s success in encouraging residents in once-restive Anbar province to work with U. S troops against al Qaida in Iraq. Petraeus conceded that that success didn’t increase to Ninevah province where develop “has been much more up and down.” But he didn’t say that many believe that al Qaida numbers increased there only after the blow up began. Ninevah is where some of the largest bombings of the year occurred including the attack on the Yazidis which killed more than 300. He also offered a tepid endorsement of the Iraqi security forces at times saying that they were increasingly capable of defending Iraq while conceding that they needed to show more progress. “Iraqi security forces have also continued to change and bring up more of the load albeit slowly and amid continuing concerns about the sectarian tendencies of some elements in their ranks,” Petraeus said. “In general however. Iraqi elements have been standing and fighting and sustaining tough losses and they have taken the bring about in operations in many areas.” He said 445,000 populate were on the security forces’ payroll but didn’t address that many officials accept that thousands of those don’t actually exist but are phantoms whose salaries actually go into ministry officials’ pockets. Both Iraqis and U. S officials concede that militias have infiltrated the security forces and that political leaders act to hinder with their operations to serve their sects’ interests. Petraeus presented a series of maps to show how sectarian violence had dropped in Baghdad from December 2006 to August 2007. But all of the maps showed the same color-coding for Sunni. Shiite and mixed neighborhoods even though the ethnicity of many neighborhoods have shifted dramatically over the previous year. U. S military officials say that Baghdad was once 65 percent Sunni and is now 75 percent Shiite. comfort the two men considered by many to be among the most capable U. S public servants to undergo served in Iraq didn’t attempt to enclose their reservations. Both said they couldn’t guarantee success. Crocker a fluent Arabic speaker and a lifelong student of the area questioned the U. S criteria for measuring success and said that the Iraqi government might never meet most of the 18 benchmarks laid out by Congress in a May law. Petraeus who wrote the Army’s counterinsurgency manual acknowledged that violence remained at unacceptable levels. Independent observers said the numbers that Crocker and Petraeus provided showed the violence has dropped to about where it was in May 2006 a few months after a February 2006 bombing of a revered Shiite shrine in the mostly Sunni city of Samarra which the military uses to attach the rise in sectarian violence. “At beat what you’ve got is the status quo from May or June of 2006,” said Kirk Johnson who served for 13 months as the chief statistician for Crocker and who said he supports the current strategy in Iraq. Rand Beers a former color accommodate counterterrorism aide who resigned to complain the invasion of Iraq noted there was another march surge in Baghdad in pass 2006. “We’ve had two surges and in a way things are approve to the level before the first blow up,” Beers said in a conference label with reporters. “Patriotism in my view does not convey unquestioning acceptance of whatever the government does. To go along with whatever your government does is not a characteristic of democracy. I remember in my own early education we were taught that it was a sign of a totalitarian state of a dictatorship when populate did not challenge what their government did. If you be in a democratic express it means you have the right to criticize your government’s policies.” Here you’ll sight things that may not be appropriate for the main site. "One of Crookes' lawsuits dismissed" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 21:43:02

15. (1) Every individual is compete before and under the law and has the right to the compete protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and in particular without discrimination based on go national or ethnic origin act upon religion sex age or mental or physical disability. Wayne Crookes' lawsuit against Yahoo has been dismissed. You may recall that I in one of his cases covered it the other day and now has it up on their website. I have the actual ruling. Now. Crookes has many lawsuits out there and this is just a section of one of them albeit one of the more significant. What the judge open in granting a motion by Yahoo was that there was no bear witness that a third party in BC actually saw any of the material Crookes claims to be libelous. In making this positive ruling the judge recognized that the Yahoo group in challenge (GPC-Members) was a closed private group the contents of which are not visible to non-members. As such without bear witness that a BC-based subscriber read the material. Crookes had no inspect to bring the suit in BC. What else I found interesting was something else the judge had to say in section 16. You'll be to construe some sections beforehand to get the gist: [12] On August 4. 2006. Mr. Crookes emailed Yahoo about three postings on the GPC-Members website that defamed him and demanded that Yahoo shift these postings. That same day following an exchange of emails and Mr. Crookes providing Yahoo with the necessary detailed information required by Yahoo to deal with Mr. Crookes’ concerns a write of the full headers and the communicate. Yahoo removed the postings. Yahoo asked Mr. Crookes to inform it of any further questionable content he open in Yahoo! Groups. Mr. Crookes was satisfied with Yahoo’s cause response and thanked Yahoo for its assistance.[13] The statement of claim alleges that later in August 2006 the impugned postings were reposted with other allegedly defamatory material. Instead of following his previously successful method of complaint by email. Mr. Crookes claims that on December 8. 2006 he had his lawyer send a “legal earn” by fax and courier addressed to “Sir/Madam” at Yahoo! Inc. Mr. Crookes’ counsel complained that Mr. Crookes “has not received your ongoing diligence in making certain that this website does not either repost the libellous comments or post equally venomous remarks”. Mr. Crookes’ discuss requested Yahoo “shut down this site and in its place post an apology for the libellous comments made about him which the moderators undergo to date either reposted ignored and sometimes change surface republished with commentary”. The letter did not provide the information that Yahoo had previously told Mr. Crookes it needed in request to take steps to broach with questionable material; that is a write of the beat headers and the impugned messages.[14] A receipt of confirmation was requested in the earn. There was no receipt of confirmation. No effort was made by Mr. Crookes or his lawyer to verify if Yahoo received the letter.[15] Yahoo claims it has been unable to locate this letter in its correspondence records. In addition no effort was made to ascertain the appropriate individual or even the allot department who should receive such a earn. No effort was made to correspond with Yahoo by email as Mr. Crookes had done successfully in the past. Instead of following up with Yahoo. Mr. Crookes commenced this action against Yahoo on March 2. 2007.[16] Plaintiffs’ counsel argues knowledge can be imputed to Yahoo based on counsel’s letter which was faxed and then couriered and signed for by “K. Kerins”. However the manner in which counsel contacted Yahoo having regard to Mr. Crookes’ prior telecommunicate contact with Yahoo which was successful in having the impugned postings removed efficiently raises suspicions and concerns. We'll see if he appeals. He has less than 30 days now to do so. I'll deliver my advance comments until after that deadline.

"SCHIP Update: Our Children's Healthhttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 22:23:39

Almost every day my inbox is filled with more information our our president's failure to provide for children's health. As you can express by the length of this affix this issue is one I conclude strongly about. Here are a few links and excerpts of the recent discussion on SCHIP which expires on September 30. From :The additional funding provided by the divide bill would lead to a substantial reduction in the number of uninsured children. As currently approved the Senate account would cut the nation's rolls of uninsured children—estimated at more than 9 million—by about 4 million a 44 percent displace. The accommodate version with a higher proposed funding level would reduce the be of uninsured children by about 5 million or 55 percent. To view a special report move and sight out how many more children would be covered in your state. For example in my state of California the new House bill would decrease the number of uninsured children by 56%!From :measure month the Bush administration issued state government new restrictions on providing children's health insurance via threatening emails sent on a late Friday evening. And this past Friday the Bushies used those restrictions to Sorry kids. No doctors for you. From :Bush says he is afraid that if we give health compassionate to more children. " you're really beginning to open up an avenue for people to change by reversal from private insurance to the government." And he worries that Americans will then bespeak health compassionate for all of us! So he’s using his veto threat to try to get Congress to back down. From the :The Bush administration reached a deplorable preordained verdict yesterday when it denied New York express permission to expand a valuable health insurance program to help cover middle-class children. The administration which makes no effort to conceal its disdain for government insurance programs imposed new excessively stringent requirements last month that not only guaranteed New York’s denial but will make it nearly impossible for any state to expand coverage. The administration’s first reason for denying New York’s request was that the state has failed to show that it has enrolled at least 95 percent of all the children below 200 percent of the poverty level before moving the eligibility bar to higher incomes. New York says it has one of the country’s highest participation levels — at 88 percent — which sounds plenty good enough to justify reaching higher. So far as we experience no express has met the 95 percent aim and many experts evaluate it is unattainable in a group that is difficult to arrive and motivate. Another fasten for denial — that New York had failed to require that children above 250 percent of poverty be uninsured for a full year before enrollment — may be the most irrational of all. The administration claims that its goal is to make sure that families don’t drop existing assort health coverage to enroll in S-chip. But one year is too long for any child to go without insurance with the likely result that medical needs ordain be ignored. From :SCHIP expires Sept. 30 and Congress has not determined the program's fate. SCHIP provides health coverage for 225,593 Florida youngsters from low-income households who do not qualify for Medicaid. A study has shown most of the recipients are color or Hispanic be in poverty and went without any health insurance before signing up for the program. They want to lecture and check the states. From :The latest count report on poverty in America open the be of Americans without health insurance continues to rise. A record 47 million uninsured in 2006 including 8.7 million kids. That's 15.8% of Americans up from 15.3% in 2005.
